Showalter Land Leveling began operations in 1978 with the purchase of two 1963 Wabco scrapers. Brion had been employed in the business of land leveling and when the owner decided to sell, Brion jumped at the opportunity. For the next ten years the business was predominantly engaged in leveling for irrigation systems, servicing the agricultural community. The addition of dozers, loaders, trucks and upgraded laser systems on all machines saw the business into its 20th year. With the popularity of pivot irrigation systems, the need for gravity irrigation projects began to dwindle.
At this time Idaho saw an increase of the number of dairy operations in the state and it was an opportunity for the business to expand.
In 1996 Showalter Land Leveling was incorporated and the name changed to reflect the growing diversity that it now could offer.
Since 1996 Showalter Construction has been awarded the dirt contracts on 11 different dairy projects in the Treasure and Magic Valleys of Southwestern Idaho. The projects have varied from 150,000 cubic yards of material to over a million yards on some of the bigger projects.
Showalter Construction still is involved in irrigation projects, roads, reclamation and site design.
Brion continues in the position of president of the company and stays true to the business philosophy he started with in 1978, "It's not how many jobs we do, it's how well we do the job."
Showalter Construction is a thriving, growing business with 38 years experience in the industry.
We look forward to continued success as a provider of valuable services and expertise to the agricultural community.
